Blizzard Is Exploring Gamer Interest In NFT And P2E Games

In its new poll, Activision Blizzard is trying to gauge fan interest in new trends. To the dismay of gamers, the options listed include NFTs, the Metaverse, and P2E games. If you were one of the respondents, what would you say?

Activision Blizzard sent out a 15-minute survey to a select group of players. In the survey, the company asked them questions ranging from how often they play various Blizzard games to what game genre they play the most. So what part was asking about NFT then?

It turns out that the survey has a section dedicated to the interest of players in new technologies and future trends in games.

“How interested are you in the next new/future trends in gaming?” Activision Blizzard asked in its latest poll.

But then topics like cross-play were touched on, and that’s fine. But the list (Horror!) also includes topics like the metaverse, crypto-play-to-earn games, and NFTs. See for yourself.

What Is The Reaction Of The Fans?

All we can say is that Activision Blizzard fans are unhappy. According to Twitter user @OTadaka, this is very self-serving. This reaction from gamers is not uncommon, as traditional players usually view NFTs as a form of monetization. In addition, fans also lamented that the company didn’t even bother to create a thank you landing page at the end of the survey. Instead, upon completion, the survey ended abruptly, redirecting them to Blizzard’s online store.

However, there have been rumors on Twitter that the company is integrating NFT into Call of Duty games. One thing is for sure: Activision Blizzard won’t be the only gaming firm eyeing the NFT sector. In fact, Japanese gaming giant Sega recently suggested that NFTs are “a natural extension for the future of gaming.”
