Fifa has announced the launch of a blockchain platform for collecting digital content. The project, called Fifa+ Collect, will provide an opportunity to buy various items and online products related to the main international football competition.
Federation representatives say that fans will be able to get their hands on unique collectibles through the platform. We are talking about various illustrations, rare images, and memorable game moments.
Most of the thematic content is tied to the World Cup. The World Cup has a long history, so Fifa has something to offer fans of this sport. Of course, collectibles will cover both the men’s and women’s championships.
“The fandom is changing and football fans around the world are getting involved in the game in exciting new ways. This announcement makes FIFA collectibles accessible to any football fan, democratizing the opportunity to own a piece of the World Cup ,” said Romi Guy, the federation’s commercial director.
The new platform is based on the Algorand blockchain. He was chosen as an official partner at the beginning of 2022. According to representatives of the federation, this blockchain attracted their attention due to the high speed of transaction processing. A small commission and other aspects of Algorand’s work became a plus.
The launch date of the Fifa+ Collect project will be announced in the coming weeks. At launch, the platform will offer a collection of images and iconic moments related to the history of the World Cup.
