Unknown Bought The nfts.com Domain For $15 Million

The media found out that an unknown user spent $ 15 million to purchase an exclusive nfts.com domain through intermediaries.

Domain name providers GoDaddy.com and Domainer have sold the nfts.com domain for $15 million, the industry publication DomainInvesting.com writes, citing a press release from the companies. Who exactly became the buyer is not disclosed. However, the deal has already become one of the largest in the history of companies.

The press release notes that the buyer was a person close to the Web3 movement, namely the website digitalartists.com. The nfts.com domain was first registered in March 2021, but who exactly the customer was is unclear.

Previously, a sales frenzy was recorded among the Ethereum Name Service (ENS) blockchain domains. For example, in July, the sony.eth domain was sold for $72,000 to a user with the sunbay.eth domain. In the same month, the 000. eth domain was sold for 300 ETH ($315,000 at the time of the deal).

Despite the scale, the nfts.com purchase is not the largest. The most expensive deal remains the $30 million purchase of the voice.com domain by cryptocurrency firm Block. The domain was intended for a social network, which, however, did not achieve much success. Block. one itself is now trying to deal with the EOS community, which intends to sue the developer of the cryptocurrency ecosystem and sue billions of dollars.

In February 2021, the editors wrote that Future Fund’s cryptocurrency venture fund bought the sushi.com domain for the decentralized finance ( DeFi ) project SushiSwap. However, it is still unclear whether the fund’s investment in the thematic domain has paid off.
