- A16z launches new project called “Can’t Be Evil”
- This is the guideline for issuing NFT licenses
- The toolkit is completely free and offers multiple copyright options
Yesterday, August 31, the Can’t Be Evil project was launched by the cryptocurrency division of the a16z venture fund. This is a free NFT license toolkit that aims to clear up any confusion around virtual property copyright.
Often, when buying a particular token, the owner receives a tokenID along with metadata. However, in some cases, for example, when making a loan secured by this NFT with subsequent alienation, there is confusion with copyright.
The Can’t Be Evil project aims to set certain industry standards. According to a16z, this will unlock the full economic potential of NFTs.
This project is inspired by the work of the Creative Commons team, who tried to create something similar but did not find support from the community. In fact, ” Can’t Be Evil ” is a set of free licenses that allows you to clearly define the boundaries of ownership of the token.
The a16z source code has been posted on GitHub. The team of invited notaries deals with the legal side of the issue. You can familiarize yourself with the terms and conditions of use at the link.
We previously reported that in Singapore, a court banned the sale of a token from the BAYC collection due to ownership disputes. The a16z project is just designed to create a single solution in such situations.
