84-year-old actor Anthony Hopkins has set a new NFT sales record on OpenSea. His latest collection, “The Eternal Collection,” sold out in seven minutes!
The artist from the Orange Comet team shared the news on Twitter, adding that his collaboration with the actor marks an extraordinary beginning for Anthony Hopkins, expanding his artistic expression in the new digital space.
“The Eternal Collection” consists of over 1,000 NFTs in pictures and animations, representing archetypal Hopkins incarnations such as the Jester, the Lover, the Rebel, the Hero, the Ruler, the Sage, the Mage, the Giver, the Explorer, and the Creator.
The love and interest of the actor’s fans in his new endeavor have defied the current bear market – with interest in the space waning; fans snapped up the collection in minutes.
As it turns out, most NFT holders from “The Eternal Collection” are unwilling to sell their tokens. Only 13% of NFTs are listed for sale on OpenSea.
The massive excitement around the sale of the collection caused a minor technical failure on the site. Users could not mint NFT. OpenSea fixed the issue within 50 minutes and resumed selling the collection.
Fans who missed the drop due to the glitch were reportedly able to purchase NFTs later from other users. Despite this nuance, they believe the collection was worth the effort and money spent.
Orange Comet is a team that has connections in the entertainment industry. Over the past year, she has launched over 17 NFT projects on sports and other topics. The last significant projects were a collection for the Elmont hockey team and a collection for The Walking Dead.
