A beer NFT featuring actor Bill Murray was sold for 119.2 ETH (about $185,000) in a charity auction this Wednesday.
Bill Murray 1000 is an NFT collection created by The Shack in collaboration with the Coinbase NFT marketplace. Only 82 of the 1,000 NFTs in the collection have been released so far, but only one comes with beer. The cheapest token in the collection costs 11 ETH (about $17,000).
The auction generated a buzz among six major collectors, but Coinbase user Brant Boersma came out on top. The meeting with actor Bill Murray will also be immortalized on the blockchain.
Artist David Grizzle will be present at the meeting to paint a joint portrait of Murray and Boersma. The artist admits that this is his first experience in the NFT space, but he is in anticipation.
According to the project’s website, each NFT in the collection includes previously untold anecdotes and stories from Bill Murray. Even though the actor doesn’t look like an expert on NFT technologies, his collection is original. In addition, he recently acquired a couple of tokens from the CryptoPunks, Cool Cats, Deadfellas, and LinksDAO collections. Murray’s team will donate proceeds from the sale of Chive Charities, a non-profit organization that serves veteran families and rescuers.
