Crypto exchange OKX and LinkedIn have published a joint paper, “Global Blockchain Talent Report 2022: Web3 Direction”.
As of June 2022, the total number of LinkedIn users claiming blockchain skills has increased by 76% compared to last year.
The top five countries for blockchain talent include the US, India, China, the UK, and Singapore. India and Singapore recorded higher growth rates at 122% and 92%, respectively, followed by the US at 62% and China at 12%.
The demand for professions in the field of blockchain is mainly observed in the USA, China, France, India, and Germany. The report also emphasized that the demand for professions in these countries has grown exponentially over the past year.
An analysis of the workforce in the global blockchain space shows that the largest share is financial professionals (19%), followed by R&D professionals (16%). The most popular sub-professions are cryptocurrency traders, programmers, analysts and account managers.
“In April 2022, the number of applicants for Web3 jobs worldwide was 18.8K, and in May, it was 18.9K. There is a lot of talent in the market, but few people specialize in blockchain or Web3. There is still a shortage of talent in the field of professional development,” shared representatives of the OKX exchange.
The average time of professional experience among blockchain talents in the world is 1.2 years. LinkedIn data shows that from 2021 to the present, talent mostly flows between Coinbase, Crypto.com, Gemini, and Ripple.
The share of women among blockchain specialists is significantly lower than that of men – 24% and 76%, respectively.
In conclusion, the parties noted that the blockchain industry faces challenges at different levels, so the report suggests that enterprises adjust their talent strategies promptly.
