Craft Gems
The STEPN game has a gem-burning feature. Crafting STEPN gems will allow you to get one higher-level gem out of three. But it is not exactly. However, about the probabilities a little later.
How does it work?
In the Gems section, you need to go to the Upgrade tab – improvement.
Next, you need to select three stones of the same level and the same purpose. For example, choose 3 gems for level 1 comfort.

Unfortunately, it is possible to burn gems, pay GST for it and get nothing in return.
Cost and probabilities
The diagram below will help you figure out how much it costs to burn gems of one level or another. It also indicates the probability of the crafting of STEPN stones being successful.
This diagram shows stones for comfort, but the information applies to any other crystals .
So, when crafting three tier 1 gems, you will get one tier 2 gem with a probability of only 35%. It will cost you 50 GST. As user experience shows, it also happens that 8-9 attempts to craft stones are unsuccessful. After all, every time you start the process over again, you again and again encounter a probability of 35%. However, there are also lucky ones who managed to get an improved gem on the first try.
Craft sneakers
How does it work?
This mechanic appeared in the game relatively recently. Now in the Sneakers section, in addition to the Shoeboxes tab, there is an Enhance tab – an improvement. Here you can choose 5 pairs of sneakers and burn them to get higher-class sneakers.
For crafting, you need:
- 5 pairs of sneakers of the same rarity class (quality);
- all pairs must be in the same network, and the improvement cannot be made with sneakers from different worlds;
- amount covering the cost of burning ( GST+GMT ).
What is the price?
The cost of upgrading sneakers depends on the class. To get an ankomonka, you need to burn 5 komonok and pay 360 GST + 40 GMT. You can find out the cost of crafting higher-class sneakers from this diagram.
By the way, the floor for uncommon is now 1.9 SOL, and for komonki – 0.5 SOL. Having carried out simple mathematical calculations, we can conclude that making money on incineration is not the most profitable strategy. Nevertheless, many users are interested in the mechanism. For example, those who previously purchased battery-powered sneakers on the Solana network farmed tokens using a sneaker on the BNB network.
What will happen?
With a 100% chance, when crafting 5 sneakers, you will get 1 sneaker per class higher. The probability of getting one type (walkers, joggers, runners, or trainers) is formed in proportion to the sneakers involved in the burning.
Example:
2 Walkers + 2 Runners + 1 Trainer = Walker ( 40% )
2 Walkers + 2 Runners + 1 Trainer = Runner ( 40% )
2 Walkers + 2 Runners + 1 Trainer = Trainer ( 20% )
2 Walkers + 2 Runners + 1 Trainer = jogger ( 0% )
Crafting affects sockets in the same way. If the first socket of all burned shoes is for the resistance gem, then the first socket for the gem will be the same in improved shoes. And if at least one in five sneakers has a different outlet, there will be a 20% chance of getting it.
Also, as a result of crafting, sneakers are obtained with higher essential characteristics (efficiency, luck, comfort, and stability). For example, if you mint sneakers and get ankomonks, the base values of all attributes will be in the range from 8 to 18 units. But if you get green sneakers as a result of crafting, the base indicators of attributes will be increased by as much as 20%. That is, they will range from 9.6 to 21.6 units.
To burn or not to burn?
Well, to sum up, crafting is an exciting mechanic in STEPN. It adds interest to the gameplay and helps burn the game GST token to stabilize the game’s economy over time. And now crafting gems has become more relevant when it comes to stones for comfort. Indeed, with the latest update, the creators have introduced HP points that need replenishment. The higher the gem level, the “healthier” your shoe will be after recovery.
